Inropa software RobTeach og RobTeach VR pave new ways for employing
paint robots in situations
with complicated geometries and / or small
batches.
The advantages of using robot application in industrial painting are
obvious and well accepted among
painting professionals:
- Savings in paint consumption
- Uniform quality
- Efficiency (faster movements without increasing fatigue)
- No human presence in impacted working environments
With these obvious advantages it is surprising, that paint robots are
not more densely distributed in the general industry and among coating
subcontractors.
Inropa product development
By interviewing more than 100 industry companies and coating
subcontractors in Germany and
Scandinavia 2005, following main
arguments against the use of paint robots were found:
- Our production batches are too small
- Our geometries are too complex
- We loose flexibility
- We have to stop production during programming of the robot(s)
- We doubt, that we have the right programming competences
- We fear to become dependent on services from external programmers
It was clear to Inropas development team, that all these doubts can be
counteracted by offering simple
and reliable programming tools, which can be operated without
programming expertise and without
waste of time compared to a traditional test painting procedure. For
this purpose Inropa developed
RobTeach and RobTeach VR.
- Off – line programming that does not block the production line
during programming
- The robot movements for initial program are generated by the operator’s
manual movements.
The know how of an experienced painter is directly transferred to the robot
program.
- Programs are transferred directly onto the robot without any adaptation.
- Program modifications for improving quality and optimising product runs
are easily performed without blocking the production (after test runs).
- Advanced computer proficiency is not required.
Inropa™
RobTeach
Human Free-hand Teaching for Paint Robots
Inropa™ RobTeach captures robot positions from a
human operator. Robot programming is done easily and intuitively
without stopping the physical robot – and without using
CAD-models of parts.
Programming in realistic environment
The human user of RobTeach uses the physical parts and a
physical fixture for the programming. The fixture and the part
is placed outside the paint line but configured in the same way
as in the line. It is not necessary to use CADmodels of parts or
fixtures for programming.
Programming by human
Free-hand motions The user is programming the positions of
the robot by free hand movemetns of a tool relative to the
physical part. He can apply his painting experience directly to
the robot program. Only basic to medium computer skills are
necessary in order to use RobTeach. |

Simple editing and optimization
It is possible to add painting parameters and events for the
spray gun, and the user can create a full robot program in the
system. The points in the programs can be edited in a PC-based
Graphical User interface the system for optimizing the paint
result.
Simulation of robot motion
The complete robot motion is simulated in our PC-based
Graphical User Interface. That way it is possible to find
collisions and unreachable motions before running the programs
on the physical robot.
Direct transfer of robot programs
The robot programs can be transferred directly from the
RobTeach VR system to the robot controller through net
connection. |
